Farokh Talati, head chef at St. John Bread & Wine, will be taking control of the stoves here at The Church House Inn, Harberton for one night only on 23rd November to cook a feast of recipes from his cookbook, ‘Parsi: From Persia to Bombay: Recipes & Tales from the Ancient Culture’, inspired by his Parsi heritage and travels through India.
A special wine list will be available on the night to complement the food.
£50 per person for four-course set-menu. Please make us aware of any food allergies upon booking.
6:30 arrival
Farokh's parents moved from Bombay to London before he was born, and growing up in a Parsi (a community of Zoroastrians that fled Persia in the 8th century to India) family, Farokh has been fully emersed in the culture, eating and cooking this food his whole life.
A few years ago, Farokh took a three-month trip to India to learn more about his Parsi heritage, pestering every aunty, uncle and cook he knew to teach him the traditional dishes and the basics of Parsi cookery, a unique mix of Persian and Indian cuisine.
Currently the Head Chef at St John Bread and Wine, where Tim and Farokh first met, Farokh will often make Parsi food for staff meals, usually drawing curious customers to ask where the delicious smells are coming from.
He began a Parsi supper club in Greek Street, London, to celebrate the food of his heritage, selling out as soon as tickets go on sale.
We are so excited to welcome this dear friend to the Church House kitchen and share his cooking with you.
